The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC-RI) recently awarded our work on the Bristol County Water Authority’s (BCWA) East Bay Pipeline Sliplining project with their highest Engineering Excellence Award, the Project of the Year “Golden Anchor” Award. The BCWA provides water to approximately 50,000 customers throughout three Towns in Rhode Island through their East Bay Pipeline transmission main. In April of 2019, an alert was triggered indicating that this critical main was leaking approximately 400,000 gallons per day. A sinkhole then developed along a bank of the Providence River and it became clear that the leak was located beneath the River. Given these challenges and the critical nature of the pipeline itself, BCWA reached out to BETA to help coordinate and facilitate repairs on the transmission main.
Why are we talking about snow in July?
You may not want to be thinking about plowing snow in the middle of summer, but you should be! When the first storm arrives, you are prepared. The trucks are ready and salt sheds are stocked. But are your plow routes optimized? BETA provides the GIS tools that municipalities need to optimize their routes – saving time and money to make the best use of limited staff and resources. Our team of experts can code your existing municipal plow route map data into a GIS program and combine it with truck inventory and characterization details to output an optimized plan for each route.
