BEUDO Amendment Update

On April 26th, the Ordinance Committee discussed and voted on amendments to the Building Energy Use Disclosure Ordinance (BEUDO). The amendments will update the current ordinance to require buildings to lower their emissions over time, with timelines and reduction targets corresponding to the size and type of building. Final amendment language is in development, and is expected to be voted on at a regular council hearing on or before June 26, 2023.  A reminder to all BEUDO property owners/managers - the deadline to report complete and accurate energy and water data to the City was May 1, 2023. About BEUDO

In Cambridge, more than 80% of greenhouse gas emissions come from buildings. Since 2014, the Building Energy Use Disclosure Ordinance (BEUDO) has required buildings over a certain size to report energy use to the City. (50+ units for residential, and 25,000+ square feet for commercial.)
