BEUDO Policy and Regulatory Updates

Last year, Cambridge City Council approved amendments to the BEUDO ordinance which will require emissions reductions, also known as Building Performance Standards, for the non-residential buildings covered by the ordinance. More details can be found in the memo published last fall. The regulations, which will help to implement and clarify the building performance standards, will be developed and finalized in a multi phase process. Key areas of regulation being developed this year include the finalization of emissions factors and the process for submitting a renewable electricity project (PPA, VPPA, or otherwise) for review.

Emission Factors - Meeting on 7/25

We will hold a meeting to discuss the methodology used to calculate emission factors for the use of grid electricity and from combustible fuels (gas, oil, etc.), which are used in calculating the greenhouse gas emissions of BEUDO buildings. Date: Thursday, July 25 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Location: Online Stakeholders and owners of buildings subject to BEUDO are invited to register to participate in this discussion to learn about the process, and to share their input.
