December 2022
Season’s Greetings from Sedona Public Library!

We know your email box is full of giving requests. We know you’d support all of us if you could. We’re asking that you be sure to include the Library in your end-of-year giving plan. Why?

Because Sedona Public Library renews much more than books. We’ve added a new branch library, an outdoor courtyard, and dozens of new programs. And there is much more in store.

We won’t let the Library be overdue. Help us stay renewed. And if you need one more reason? Your gifts will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $40,000!
Already made a matching gift? THANK YOU!
Featured Donor: Patty Reski

Patty's childhood home didn't have a lot of books, but her teen cousin Carol Johnson came to the rescue. Carol introduced Patty to the local library in South St. Paul where she worked. She also brought Patty and her brother discarded children's books, and thus the love of reading was ignited. The flame has not gone out. Even when living on a sailboat in the Caribbean, Patty found books in marinas or ports, and funny enough learned to love British literature. Now, a Big Park resident, she is thrilled to have the Village Library. She said, "It is magnificent: a visual, spatial, and literary experience." For a second year, Patty has sponsored a small meeting room there. "It's a way to honor my cousin Carol," she explains. "She is still going at 93!" Thank you, Patty, and thank you, Carol! Your Library Is Giving Central

Sedona Public Library really does renew more than books. When you help us, you enable us to help those who save lives. The Library is giving central! With our community partners, especially during the holidays, when you stop by, you'll find opportunities to support other non-profits. You can drop off toys in the Toys for Tots boxes; contribute plastic grocery bags for the Sedona Area Homeless Alliance bedroll project; grab a tag for a gift to a senior at Verde Valley Caregivers; drop off an item for SallyPat Transitional Residential Housing; or hang a heart on SedonaKind's Gratitude Tree. We also manage the Sedona Wish List. To learn more about the many opportunities to give back, please contact Andrea Lhotka here. Thanks for helping us help the community!
Let's Reduce Philanthropy Confusion

Is Sedona Public Library a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization? Yes! We received our designation in 1964. While 90 percent of public libraries are under municipal or other government oversite, we are an independent and private organization that serves as a public library, and we have done so for over 60 years. Our EIN is 86-6052627, and your gifts are tax-deductible as provided by law.

Can a donor direct a planned gift to the Library? Yes! Whether it's a Required Minimum Distribution, Donor Advised Fund, naming us in your will, or making us a beneficiary of an insurance policy, there are many ways to use your planned gifts to support the Library! Confused? Click here.

Is Sedona Public Library a Qualifying Charitable Organization? Unfortunately, no. This individual income tax credit is available for organizations that provide immediate basic needs to Arizonans who receive temporary assistance for needy families (TANF) benefits, are low income, or have a chronic illness or physical disability. Please click here for more information.

Have the CARES Act charitable income tax benefits been extended for 2022? No, sorry to say they have not. We recommend visiting your tax preparer for more information.
