In 2017, BFF will receive $10,000 a year for three years as part of a new initiative of the Fleishhacker Foundation to strengthen a small group of selected lynchpin arts service organizations. BFF was one of six Bay Area arts organizations to receive this generous grant.

2016 Grants awarded: 17 including 7 student grants, totaling $147,000.

New grant given—The Al Bendich Award: named in honor of former board member and social justice advocate for $20,000

New & Recurring grants: The Saul Zaentz Foundation, George Lucas Family Foundation, Fleishhacker Foundation, LaFetra Family Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, Berkeley Civic Arts Commission, East Bay Community Foundation, Bayer HealthCare, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Robertson Family Fund, County of Alameda Board of Supervisors.

Grants awarded since 2009: more than 100, totaling almost $1.1 million.

Next generation filmmakers: 29 grants totaling more than $80,000.

Educational outreach: Our various free workshops for filmmakers regularly draw over 100 participants.

BFF Expanded Its Grant Program to Oakland Filmmakers in 2016!

For the first time since its inception in 2009, BFF offered two grants with the generous support of The La Fetra Foundation and The East Bay Community Foundation. We’re committed to providing grants to Oakland filmmakers!
