Our campus has a new look to it this year! Over the summer, W.S Cumby Construction was hard at work, building new indoor and outdoor spaces all over campus. This year, the main building has new MS and US classrooms and commons areas. The new construction includes more student cubby and bathroom spaces and bigger learning spaces inside and outside of the classrooms. We also added a new canopy to our bus area that provides shade shelter on rainy days.
The new and improved LS playground was completed in late August, and it's been a BIG hit with students. The new playground features a sandbox area, a rock climbing wall, a set of monkey bars, and everyone's favorite, a giant blue twisty slide!
Coming later in the year, we are looking forward to a middle school regulation-size gymnasium, which will be ready to use by early Spring 2024. Our new gymnasium will have a connecting annex, a kitchen, elevator, restrooms, and a new entrance to the Arts building. The construction team has also been working on a new Science building, which will be nestled in the woods. This space will increase exploration and learning - including an outdoor covered teaching porch where students may study the environment that directly surrounds them on our 44-acre wooded campus.

4th Grade Service Day
On October 3rd, the Fourth Grade class visited the Quakertown SPCA to kick off their year-long service learning project. Natalie DiGiacomo, Director of Community Outreach, shared their mission, the needs of the shelter, and the impact that volunteers and donated resources have on the animals and the success of the SPCA. A tour of the facility followed this presentation. During the visit, students also decorated bags containing needed items for adopted or fostered animals.
The next steps in the signature Fourth Grade service learning project are for the students to brainstorm as a class ways that they can help animals by supporting the mission of the SPCA. They will then educate the BFS community about what they learn and how others can help.
