First Quarter 2021
Academic Success
Inclusion and diversity create a culture of respect and belonging. BGCCB provides our youth with a variety of opportunities to learn about and accept individual differences and backgrounds. Most recently, our youth acknowledged and celebrated Black History Month, Saint Patrick’s Day (Irish culture), and Women’s History Month.
Most children enjoy being outdoors, creating things, and getting a little dirty. Gardening is a fantastic activity that allows youth to learn new skills, have fun, play and develop self-confidence. Our youth’s garden currently consist of cilantro, thyme, rosemary, and other fine herbs.
STEAM activities are a fun way for kids to engage independently in a small group setting. Learning becomes fun when the activities are colorful, engaging, and hands-on. BGCCB youth were prepared for a little mess and a whole lot of fun when they built, staged, and erupted their own volcanos.
Good Character & Citizenship
Caring Adults
BGCCB wants to ensure our youth feel connected to their peers and caring adults. This is done by getting to know our youth individually, creating a meaningful relationship that is built on trust and support. These relationships create ongoing and consistent opportunities for youth to share what and how they are feeling.
The National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI) is a Boys & Girls Club survey designed to measure the impact of Clubs. This survey provides us with an important insight straight from the youth we serve. The results from the NYOI allow BGCCB the opportunity to enhance, change, or highlight the programs and services we offer.

Teen Night
After a year of not hosting any youth events, BGCCB was excited to put on our first Teen Night of 2021. The event was free and open to the community, creating an opportunity to re-connect with one another. The turnout of teens spoke for itself. BGCCB can not wait until the next one happens!
Healthy Lifestyle
Food Program
During the school year, many children qualify for the free or reduced food program at school. When school lets out, many of those children are at risk of hunger. The BGCCB meal program is designed to fill the hunger gap and make sure children and teens get the nutritional meals their bodies need.
Chess Club
Chess is an extremely good exercise for youth. It not only stimulates the growth of their brain, it sparks creativity, increases problem solving skills, raises their IQ level, and helps prevent Alzheimer’s. Not to mention the great time they have playing with their friends.
Play Ground
Kids need to play in order to grow and learn. BGCCB couldn’t agree more, which is why we encourage playtime at the playground. Allowing our youth to have unstructured playtime in a safe and supervised setting, promote physical activity that is critical to the physical, cognitive, emotional and social developmental of our youth.
