College Night Panel
In January, a panel of 12 college students spoke at the Club where teens and parents absorbed advice and anecdotes about campus life, finances, food service, roommates and much more. The panelists were moderated by Boys & Girls Club scholarship committee and Board Member, Patricia Santonocito, who encouraged attendees to stay involved at the Club and apply for scholarship funds to defray the cost of college or technical school. The event was part of a robust offering of college prep services available to Club teens.

BGCG Meets with our Local Leaders
CEO Advocates at the State Capital
In February our CEO, Cristina Vittoria, joined the Connecticut Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs leaders to advocate for the Neighborhood Youth Center line item in the State Education Budget. This funding has supported core Club programming in the areas of Academic Success, Health & Wellness and Leadership Development for thousands of local youth. BGCG, along with the Connecticut Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, looks for the continued support of our legislature. While at the State Capital, Cristina also had the opportunity to meet with State Senator, Ryan Fazio.

Local Officials Visit the Club
The BGCG community was honored to have State Representatives, Hector Arzeno and Rachel Khanna, join us for a tour of our vibrant Clubhouse. It was a great opportunity to discuss all of the enrichment programs we offer to the youth of Greenwich. Our kids enjoy getting to meet our local elected officials and tell them about our focus on academic success & enrichment, character development and healthy lifestyles. The BGCG community is always grateful for the support of our local elected officials!

Keystone Club Partners with Brunswick for Midnight Run
After running a clothing and toiletries drive, members of BGCG’s Keystone Club joined Brunswick School students to distribute the items to the homeless of New York City. On a single-digit temperature Friday night in February, the teens gathered at the Clubhouse where they organized the voluminous donations and packed food before getting into vans and heading into the city where several stops were scheduled of approximately 15 minutes each, starting at 9:30 p.m.
“People are waiting for us at each stop,” explained Amy Kerekes, teacher and Director of Community Service at Brunswick and BGCG alumna. “We talk to people and hear all of their personal stories. A lot of them are just down on their luck.”
The effort supported Midnight Run, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the unhoused.
"The evening made such an impact on the teens, that they immediately asked to participate in another Midnight Run event," said Deelia Wadsworth, Education & Volunteer Coordinator at BGCG.

Winston’s caring nature will be sorely missed, and we will be forever grateful for his impact on our organization and community.
