Plan D has been canceled at Baystate Medical Center and Springfield-based locations. Waterlines at BMC and metro have been flushed and are clear. It is not necessary to use bottled water. Flush all waterlines in your locations for 30 seconds before using. Report to 413-794-4477 if you observe brown water events after flushing water lines. Do not use ice machines until cleared by the Engineering department. If you need ice, call 413-794-4420. Thank you team members for all your work during the Plan D and for all your efforts in support of our patients and their care.

COVID-19 Update: Moving into Yellow Tier | |
Since late August, we have seen a steady trend of increasing COVID-19 cases among our healthcare workers across Baystate Health. Based on community testing and wastewater surveillance data, we expect this trend to increase. Because of this, starting tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 15, we will move into the Yellow Tier on the Viral Respiratory Infections Risk Mitigation Guidance.
-
Starting tomorrow, masks will be required when providing direct patient care at all Baystate Health hospitals (emergency room, observation, and inpatient settings), and also at the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care. Care partners and other visitors over the age of five (5) will also be required to wear a mask when in the room with a patient.
- Masking will remain recommended but not required in other ambulatory settings (other than the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care), and in non-patient care locations, such as nurse stations, hallways when not transporting patients, and surgical waiting areas.
- We are taking this step to protect our patients, their care partners, and our team members while continuing to provide excellent and compassionate care. We will continue to monitor trends in COVID-19 testing and will adjust this policy to respond to any significant change.
-
Guidelines for each tier can be accessed via the Viral Respiratory Infections Risk Mitigation Guidance document on the HUB. Guidelines for the Visitor Policy can be found at baystatehealth.org/patients/visiting.
