Dear Bald Head Island Association Members:
As you know from previous communications, over the last couple of months we have embarked on a nationwide search to identify a highly capable, true professional and leader to become the Executive Director of Bald Head Association.
Working very closely with our retained search firm, KOPPLIN KUEBLER & WALLACE, the Search Committee spent countless hours reviewing qualifications and backgrounds on several potential candidates along with significant time spent on face-to-face interviews with three excellent candidates. We invited two top candidates back for full day second interviews where they had a chance to interact with our interim ED, staff, the Club CEO, and Village Manager.
Once the Search Committee's work was completed, we unanimously agreed to extend the offer to one candidate.
Therefore, I am thrilled to announce that Douglas Jones has accepted the position of Executive Director for our Association. Douglas comes to us after many years of experience managing several large-scale communities including Sun City Hilton Head and Palmetto Bluff Resort, in addition to his executive level background and engineering experience.
Douglas plans to come on board at the Association around March 3rd and hopes to come to the Association a few times before his official start date as he wants to bond with our Team Members as well as look for housing in the area with his family. I am very excited we were able to attract someone with the talent and experience that Douglas possesses. He is thrilled to join our Association and we believe together we can make it one of the premier associations on the Atlantic coast!
Lastly, I want to personally thank all of the members of the Search Committee for their hard work and many hours of sacrifice during this process. We all approached our duties very seriously, befitting a process of so much importance to the future of our Association. The Committee was comprised of Slaughter Fitz-Hugh, Elizabeth Robinson, Suzanne O’Bryant, Steve Smalley and myself, Christine Osborne. And, I’d be remiss if I didn’t recognize the significant efforts of our Interim ED, Russ Curtis, who spent countless hours helping to ensure a smooth and efficient
process, with well-informed candidates.
Again, I thank my fellow Search Committee Members for a job well done! I invite you to personally thank them for their hard work when you see them; they did a tremendous service for us all.
I look forward to each of you meeting and getting to know Douglas upon his arrival to the Association in March.
Thank you for your support of the Association and for our great staff during this transition period.
Sincerely,
Christine Osborne, BHA President
On Behalf of the Board of Directors
