Hurricane Season Heats Up

The 2018 hurricane season has been quiet so far but has begun to become more active in the last few days. Take notice that there are a few systems brewing in the Atlantic that may impact North Carolina. Hurricane Florence, for example, is several days out but is certainly one to watch as it grows and moves toward the U.S.

The Village of BHI encourages property owners to register for the CodeRED emergency notification that is managed by Brunswick County. CLICK HERE to sign up for notifications. Important information will be posted on the Village's web site as needed at villagebhi.org.
Village Update

Village Manager Chris McCall recently set out an update on several issues of importance to BHI property owners, including progress on the winter dredging project, a Ports Authority study on deepening the channel paving projects.  CLICK HERE to read the update.
Getting Back to Normal after Lightning Storm

Several weeks ago, a weekend/nighttime lightning storm wreaked havoc on numerous businesses and homes on the island. BHA's phones, networking equipment, copier, fire equipment panel and two computers, among other things, were either damaged or taken out completely. With the exception of a couple of smaller items, nearly everything has been repaired or replaced and thankfully insurance has fully covered the damages.

Property owners who haven't been to the Island since August may want to consider checking their phones, appliances, golf cart/chargers, cable/internet and HVAC and alarm systems for possible damage.
