Bald Head Association's Board of Directors Urges Village Mayor to Support Ferry System Sale to BHITA
Earlier today, Bald Head Association's Board of Directors sent a letter to Village of BHI Mayor Andy Sayre urging him to resolve the current situation resulting from the Village's efforts to purchase the Island's ferry transportation system by working cooperatively with the BHI Transportation Authority (BHITA) to allow it to acquire the ferry system assets.
In its letter (link below), the BHA Board cited a recent letter from the Mitchell Family Foundation and Bald Head Island Limited (owners of the system) stating their intention to break up and sell pieces of the ferry transportation system through a competitive sale process if financing for the BHITA isn't approved by the Local Government Commission in the near future.
An excerpt of the letter from BHA:
"Dear Mayor Sayre:
On September 22, 2021, all of the Directors of Bald Head Association spent considerable time discussing among and between themselves the Ferry Transportation System and considering what we as a Board should do. While we have sat quietly for many months hoping the Village would satisfactorily resolve this situation, we can no longer remain quiet...."
