A Special Meeting of the BHA Board of Directors is scheduled for February 16, 2022, at 11:00am. The meeting will be held at the circle on Sandpiper Trail, just off West Bald Head Wynd. We will gather at that location initially.
The purpose for this meeting will be to consider a proposal from the Village which has been submitted to the BHA Board to provide long-term access to 32 and 34 Sandpiper Trail from West Bald Head Wynd in the form of a driveway, across BHA Common Area. Because this would cross Common Area, we are required to approve this in order for it to proceed forward.
The draft site plan was prepared by Shawn Wilkerson of Wetlands Engineering, who also owns 34 Sandpiper Trail. There are two options, each of which skirt around the boundaries of the wetlands that are on BHA Common Area, which were defined by Land Management Group, contracted by the Village. The ongoing efforts of Village Public Works staff, in trying to maintain golf cart and tram accessibility of the paved road surface along Sandpiper Trail, have been significantly hampered by dune growth and encroachment of sand.
At this meeting the Village of Bald Head Island, through Mayor Peter Quinn and/or Village Manager Chris McCall, will provide us information about this proposed access. BHA members are invited to attend.
Immediately after this information session, we will go to the BHA Association Center and consider whether or not to approve the application of the Village. Village officials and interested members of the BHA will be invited to join the Special Meeting of the BHA Board of Directors, and anyone interested in speaking to whether or not the application of the Village should be approved will be given the opportunity to address the Board.
