BHA News
BHA wants to hear YOUR opinion
about placing a beehive on BHA Common Area
A request has been made by a BHA member to place a beehive on BHA Common Area. Bees play a critical role in pollenating flowers in trees, vegetables and decorative flowers. A potential site is located near the road leading to the mulch site, away from nearby homes and the golf course. Since the wind spreads insecticide, a hive location needs to be chosen that is farther than a lot depth from the road or golf course, where spraying is done. Click HERE for the full presentation.

Since the request involves Common Area, the BHA Board would like to survey its members for additional thoughts. We ask our members to complete a very brief survey to help inform us of members’ opinions on the matter. The survey runs from today through Tuesday, April 5, at 4:00pm. Click HERE to complete the survey. Thank you for your participation! Stay tuned for survey results and the BHA Board decision.
Have a Question about Trees and Vegetation?
When in doubt, always ask first to ensure compliance with the Design Guidelines and any sub-association guidelines. BHA is here to help! We've made it easy for members with any questions related to trees and vegetation with a new email address: trees@baldheadassociation.com. Remember, just because it's a dead tree doesn't mean you can cut it down. To read the Design Guidelines document, click HERE.

Note that if you live in a managed drip-line community, your landscaping may be handled by either BHA (for Keeper's Landing, Surfman's Walk and Sumner's Crescent) or your specific neighborhood sub-association. BHA can help point you in the right direction.

Information Regarding Baggage Implementation
and Process Changes
On February 25, 2022, Bald Head Island Transportation, Inc. (BHIT) provided initial public notification as required by law of a change in checked-baggage policies ordered by the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC). The NCUC order becomes effective April 1, 2022. However, please note that well in advance of formal implementation of the new baggage policies and prior to strict enforcement, BHIT will communicate any process changes affecting passengers. During the 2022-2023 timeframe, BHIT anticipates implementing numerous process changes necessary to improve service delivery, increase reliability and enhance the customer experience. BHIT will initially focus on internal processes before expanding to baggage and passenger delivery operations, tram reservation integration and electronic ticketing. BHIT will share all process changes affecting the traveling public well in advance of implementation on BHIT's website at baldheadislandferry.com.

On February 23, 2022, the North Carolina Utility Commission (NCUC) ordered a checked-baggage limit of THREE(3) items per ticketed passenger on the Bald Head Island Ferry. The order also limits the size and weight of checked-baggage to being no larger than a standard 48-quart cooler and weighing no more than 50 pounds. Excess baggage as well as oversized and overweight items may be subject to an additional charge of $23 per item. BHIT will begin implementing this order on April 1, 2022 and through the remainder of the year. Click HERE for the NCUC Order A-41, Sub 20, and the amendment link is HERE.
