Hurricane Idalia Notices and Updates

To help prepare for Hurricane Idalia, here are some resources with announcements and updates for Bald Head Island organizations. Check BHI organizations' web pages and/or social media for special notices.

Village of BHI Idalia Updates

Ferry Updates

The ferry will suspend service after the 11:30pm departure from Bald Head Island on Wednesday, August 30. Service will resume once weather conditions improve and the Coast Guard authorizes the ferry to resume service, anticipated late Thursday afternoon/evening. The new Bald Head Island Ferry app is sending out service alerts to account holders. To receive notifications, load the app, set up an account and turn on the push notification setting. You can also view service alerts on the web page HERE.

BHA Office and Staff

BHA's office has closed early today (Wednesday, August 30) and will be closed on Thursday, August 31. Staff is available and will be working remotely on Thursday, August 31. At this time it is anticipated that the office will reopen on Friday, September 1, from 9:00am-4:00pm. Updates will be provided on BHA's homepage HERE.

BHA Office Closed in Observance of Labor Day

on Monday, September 4

BHA's office will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 4.

The office will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, September 5. Regular hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm.

In need of, or know someone in need of,

support on BHI? 

The Village Chapel is here to help — for those who might need help with meals,

in-person visits or other types of support, due to an injury, family emergency or for any other reason, please reach out to Christine Osborne, who heads up the Meals Committee for the Village Chapel under our Outreach Team. If more than meals are needed, Christine can coordinate with other Village Chapel committees to see what support they might be able to offer. BHA's Board of Directors invites property owners and others to view its monthly public meetings remotely via Zoom. Board meetings are typically held the second Friday of each month beginning at 11:00am EDT. Agendas, approved minutes of previous meetings and a link to the current monthly Zoom meeting can be found on the meeting information web page. Click on the link below to learn more.
