Dear BHI faculty, trainees, and staff,

Welcome to the start of the fall 2023 semester! I want to introduce you to Tongyue (Lily) Zhang, our new Communication Specialist for BHI. Lily will be engaged with multiple aspects of communication and outreach; I am sure all of you will be hearing more from her in the near future. One outcome of Lily’s recruitment is that beginning this month, we will share a monthly newsletter to keep you updated about the latest news and events relevant to BHI investigators. Our goal is to communicate regularly and keep our community involved and informed about important faculty achievements, upcoming events and activities, opportunities, and more. Rutgers Center for Autism Research, Education and Services (RUCARES)

Congratulations to Dr. Wayne Fisher, director of the RUCARES, a center of the BHI, and a BHI Core Member, on receiving funding from the New Jersey Governor’s Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism for the next New Jersey Autism Center of Excellence (NJACE) grant.

Rutgers Brain Health Institute

Congratulations to Dr. Danielle Dick’s team and Dr. Steven Levison’s team for winning the $125,000 Pilot Grant Awards from the Rutgers Brain Health Institute Pilot Program for Center and Program Project Grants. These teams were selected based on an external review conducted by experts from NIH study sections.

Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research (CAHBIR)

BHI-CAHBIR Research Pilot Grants are now available for RU-NB faculty to facilitate scanning at the CAHBIR. Two grants are available: a $100k full research pilot and a $35k minigrant. The application deadline for both grants is November 1, 2023.
