HAPPY HOMECOMING!
Ballard vs. Roosevelt: The Anchor Bowl
This Saturday's Homecoming game will be the latest contest in the long-standing football rivalry between Ballard and Roosevelt. Since 2008, the annual BHS vs. RHS matchup has been called the Anchor Bowl.

Ballard and Roosevelt are almost directly across from each other on the Seattle city grid -- NW 65th Street vs. NE 66th Street -- with Green Lake "anchoring" the two schools in the middle, so the schools decided to amp up the crosstown rivalry by giving the game a new name and a trophy to go with it.

The winner of the Anchor Bowl receives a large anchor to put on display at its school. This year, both teams come into the game at 3-2, ready to fight for one of the top spots in the Metro league Sound division.

Come cheer on the Beavers as they take on the Rough Riders this Saturday, 5pm, Memorial Stadium! See you in the stands!

Ballard Pride!
All week long, BHS students have been showing their Beaver Spirit and getting ready for Homecoming by participating in "Camp Ballard" Spirit Week. This fun, community-building week is one of the highlights of every back-to-school season. In the words of a 10th grade student:

One of my favorite things that Ballard does is sprit week. It’s so much fun seeing everyone dress up for the sprit days. Everyone’s school sprit is really inspiring, it makes me feel like I’m a part of something when we are all spirited as a group! Another fun part of the week is hall decorating. It’s a super fun friendly competition between classes to see who’s hallway looks the best. By far the best part of the week is the pep assembly. It’s exciting, fun and competitive: we play games and compete against the other classes. The game and dance is so fun and it’s amazing to see how pumped up and happy everyone is to be a part of the Ballard community.

Check out the Spirit Week video below, produced by the Ballard ASB and Digital Film Program students!
