Summer 2019 - Phase 3A/3B Volume 10 | June 4, 2019
Brownsburg High School's renovation and expansion project remains on time and on budget and set to be completed in June of 2020. These quarterly updates go to families who have children in Brownsburg Schools who just completed grades 8-12, to BCSC staff, and to anyone who has subscribed through our website. These emails provide information specific to each phase of the project, focusing on areas that impact students and their daily routines at BHS.

Phase 3A of construction is in the final months while Phase 3B begins this summer. The former BHS cafeteria is now being renovated and the new west entrance, auditorium, and 53 new and renovated classrooms and science lab are in the final months of construction, set to be completed in January 2020.

The new BHS Cafeteria (pictured above) will open in January along with the auditorium.

Overview of Phases 1B, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 3A & 3B
WHAT: Construction activities have been mostly unseen to students and staff during the school year behind temporary walls in the main part of the high school building.

  • Phase 1B, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E - These phases are effectively complete.
  • Phase 3A - (see timeline below) This phase will continue through the end of 2019. Since Spring Break 2018, the BHS auditorium has been closed. It will reopen in January 2020.
  • Phase 3B - This phase includes the renovation of the former BHS cafeteria into specialized classrooms space for classes in Project Lead the Way, TV broadcasting.

WHY: The core of the Brownsburg High School building has been relatively unchanged since it opened in 1971. With 13 additions over the last 46 years, the infrastructure of the building was in dire need of an upgrade. These upgrades are accommodating technology needs for teachers and students that weren't in place in 1971 and are maintaining a comfortable learning environment with updates to the aging HVAC system.
