BHS LIBRARY NEWS
The Ballard Library is so pleased to honor students who have become literacy champions for our Ballard community. We nominated Lily Grey Rudge who has encouraged literacy and started a Beaver Reader Book Club that includes Principal Wynkoop. We also nominated Nell Baker who created a book club with team captains at our school to talk about rape, sexual assault, and the power of consent. Please congratulate our literacy champions.

Senior Academic Awards Night at 7PM
This is an evening dedicated to academic excellence and recognizing the many accomplishments of graduating seniors.
Invitations will be sent to the homes of all seniors who have an award and will be listed in the program for the Senior Awards night for seniors and their family.

Families do not need tickets for graduation. Plenty of seating is available.
PREE DONATIONS ARE STILL NEEDED!
Help make the alcohol and drug free all night party called SPREE memorable for our graduating seniors. Donations are now being accepted. Gift cards of $5 - $20 each to places like Target and Bed Bath and Beyond are great! Other small prizes like ear buds, summer fun, or off-to-college items are great too.

The Ballard Film Festival (BFF) is Sat, June 15 at 7 p.m. in the Ballard High School auditorium (PAC).
This is a screening of new work by students in the Ballard High School Digital Filmmaking Program. The festival will feature short documentaries, client-based ads and PSA's, as well as a selection of award-winning productions from this school year. Tickets ($10 for adults and $5 for students) will be sold at the door.
Banding Together, one of the short documentaries making its premiere, follows freshman Jill Philbin through the various events that make up a year with BHS band. Another documentary, FTM, tells the story of senior Evon Mahesh's transition from female to male.

Ballard Historical Society
needs volunteers for their house tour on Sun., June 23. You can either do ticket sales from 9:30-1:00 pm or 12:30-3:30 pm, or you can be a volunteer docent at one of the tour houses from 12:45-4:00 pm. One of the graduation requirements for the Seattle School District is 60 hours of service learning. Service learning is giving time, without pay, to a non-profit or government agency. Service learning allows students to learn and to apply academic, social and personal skills through real
activities. Students make a difference and address authentic community needs. As part of service learning, students are asked to reflect and report on their experiences.

CHOIR AUDITIONS | Incoming 9th graders do not need to audition for Choir. Students with upper register voices (soprano/alto) should sign up for Treble Choir and students with lower register voices (tenor/bass) should sign up for Concert Choir. Women's Chamber Choir and Men's Ensemble ensemble callback auditions will take place in the fall.

SAT Prep classes @ UW
| The SAT is a standardized test widely required by colleges and universities to assess an applicant's potential for success. In today's competitive atmosphere, you should not go into this test unprepared. The goal of the SAT course is to prepare you for the SAT by reducing your anxiety, increasing confidence in your abilities, and arming you with practical and proven strategies. The SAT is a standardized test that becomes easier and more predictable with practice, preparation, and keen strategy. You will get to know the test from top to bottom, how it is scored, sectioned, timed, and designed. The focus will be on strategies that work, and you will get the chance to practice these strategies. Registration closes one week before classes start. Materials provided. MUSEUM OF HISTORY & INDUSTRY is now accepting applications for our 2019-2020 MOHAI Youth Advisors (MYA) program!
Youth Advisors ages 14-18 make the museum more welcoming for their peers by finding fun and creative ways to connect teens with MOHAI, and providing input on the development of museum programming and exhibits.
