School immunization rules changing on Aug. 1
Starting Aug. 1, Washington state school immunization rules are changing.
For families and students, this change means:

  • Student vaccine records given to schools must be medically verified.

  • All students in 7th through 12th grades are required to get a Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) vaccine. Before this change, Tdap was required for incoming 6th-grade students.

This fall, the Seattle Public Schools Health Services team will contact families of students who have records that have not yet met these requirements.

BALLARD PERFORMING ARTS
Calling all Performing Arts home bakers!
It's time to put all that baking you've been doing to a good cause. This year, the BHS Foundation Golf Classic Dessert Dash -- traditionally held at the dinner the night before the golf event -- will become a Dessert Delivery.

Bidders can snag a sweet treat from A la Mode Pies, Rosellini's Bakery, and more, as well as from our talented home bakers,  online during the  Celebrating All Things Ballard Virtual Auction from Aug. 16-23 . Desserts will be delivered to recipients at a future date.

All funds raised from the Dessert Delivery will support the BHS Performing Arts Programs, which include Band, Orchestra, Choir and Theatre.

If you'd like to contribute:

2. Send a photo and description (including all ingredients/potential allergens) of the dessert you plan to make to Shelley Rousseau at  bpabfundraising@gmail.com   by July 30. BPA themed-desserts welcome!
3. Or just bid on a dessert in August.

Visit the BPA Desserts Needed post for more complete details.

Stay Tuned!  More details to follow about the Celebrating All Things Ballard Foundation Auction 2020 | 100% of Dessert Dash proceeds go to Ballard Performing Arts!

BPA Music Camps info: Save the following dates
Each fall, Directors and students look forward to the Music Camps that bond groups and share knowledge and instruction. While it is unlikely that we will be able to travel to our camps and stay overnight as we have done in the past, we are instead planning to hold them at school during the day on those same weekends.

We are working out the details and will be communicating updates through our usual communication channels (BPA Newsletter, social media).

Please save the following dates for these events:

·    Band Camp:  Sept. 11–13
·    Orchestra Camps:  Sept. 18–20
·    Choir Camp:  Sept. 25–27

Visit the BHS website BPA Camp Featured News page for more information.

BALLARD FOUNDATION
Celebrating All Things Ballard Foundation Auction Aug. 16-23
Each summer the Golf Classic and Dinner of Champions have been a major
source of the funding for the Ballard High School Foundation, providing support for Athletics, Band, Cheer and Dance.

The  20th Annual Golf Classic  is still happening on Aug. 24 but we have organized the  Celebrating All Things Ballard Foundation Auction 2020 as an online virtual auction to take the place of the Dinner of Champions!

The silent auction will open on  Sunday, Aug. 16  and continue for the following week, culminating in the virtual auction the night of  Sunday, Aug. 23 .

"We believe our students
will be back to school, even if we don’t know what changes there will be in the meantime
and will need our support and your support, as much if not more than in the past. We are planning for that future as best we can."
-It’s Always Great to be a Beaver,
Keven Wynkoop, BHS Principal
