The Housing and Economic Development Committee voted 3 to 2 to forward the staff proposed Affordable Housing In-Lieu fees to the full City Council. The current in-lieu fee is 1% of the sales price for ownership units and $7,735 per unit for rentals. The proposed fees would increase to $36,000 per single-family ownership unit and $28,000 per multi-family rental unit.
We submitted a letter in advance of this hearing reiterating that this is the absolute wrong time to be considering any cost increases to housing. This swayed two of the Committee members, but now this proposal will move to the full City Council for consideration on May 19
th
