LA CITY CD11 MOTION AIMS TO CEASE ELLIS ACT EVICTIONS ON THE WESTSIDE
Councilman Mike Bonin (CD11) introduced a motion that calls for report backs from several departments to determine the vacancy rate as relates to condo conversions and Ellis Act evictions. The motion aims to enforce a moratorium on Ellis Act evictions if it is determined that the vacancy rate in neighborhoods within CD11 is less than 5%, and keep it in place until it climbs above 5%. The motion was heard at PLUM this week, and action was taken to have the LA Department of Water and Power, the LA City Planning Department, and the LA Housing and Community Investment Department (HCID) to come back at a future date to report their findings. During the hearing, the neighborhoods of Brentwood and Pacific Palisades were added for inclusion in the motion. BIA-LAV has reached out to CD11 to discuss the motion and their concerns.
