I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what’s going on in the world right now. We are seeing people have worries in our communities they shouldn’t have in a modern society; and we are “lucky we live Hawaii” to experience how to share real aloha with one another.
This moment to me translates for home builders and industry professionals to grasp onto their responsibility; for BIA to take hold of that responsibility as well and advocate tirelessly for safe, affordable housing. Because in hard times, that is what we rely on. Homes are our safe place. Our refuge. They are our offices, our daycares, our playgrounds and more.
It is increasingly important for us to all share in the responsibility to KNOW and to FACE mandates that create down pressure on the ability to build or the cost to build, and that those are the barriers that keep people from having a safe place to just... be.
I challenge you to reflect on how we are now in a position to make positive change. We must work together to provide quality information for our officials. Our industry has a great opportunity to affect the lives of the community; this is an immense responsibility for us all as we work to advocate for our members and the entire building industry in Hawaii.
