BIA-Hawaii Membership Chair Message
Aloha BIA-Hawaii,

2020 has proven to be a year of unforeseen challenges, and for many businesses and people in general, we are all being affected in some way or another. As our industry has taken position at the forefront of the economic recovery here in Hawaii, our association and members have been forced to rise above.

For 65 years, our industry and members have proven to remain steady and constant during every economic downturn and recession. Therefore, our State is dependent on our industry leaders and businesses to help us move forward.

The BIA membership committee is committed to engaging with our members and building relationships among leaders from both inside and outside the industry who have similar goals and want to be a part of something bigger - to move Hawaii's Building Industry forward.

BIA will continue to provide Virtual General Membership Meetings with key leaders and speakers to help develop relationships and provide relevant content to help our members grow in their businesses and communities. I am honored to serve as your 2020 Membership Committee Chair and Officer.

Taking stock at your business right now, what area do you find commands the most attention? It's probably human resources. HR has taken on a new role in the world of COVID-19. You’ll find that it is the catalyst for reimagining the workplace experience today. As employee needs and new policies require renewed leadership, it may be time to explore whether tackling human resources yourself is something your business is equipped to handle right now—or if now is the right time to look for extra support.

Multifamily Developers Can Save Money Through Green Certification. Some developers forgo seeking green building certification because they believe the costs are too high. It can cost a lot — but not for the reasons you may be thinking. Learn more in this guide.
Home builders have a powerful voice in federal, state and local politics. All levels of government depend on the work of developers and builders. But for that voice to be heard, NAHB members must vote in November. Visit BIA's website for candidate interviews and election resources.
