Back To School

As summer comes to a close and our kids head back to school, let’s remember that this means more little ones on the roads and school buses!

Here are some important safety tips to keep everyone safe:

Watch for Kids: Be extra vigilant in school zones and residential areas. Kids can be unpredictable, so always expect the unexpected!

Stop for School Buses: When the red lights are flashing, it’s not just a suggestion—it's the law! Always stop when you see a stopped school bus with its lights on.

Slow Down: Reduce your speed in school zones. Speed limits drop during school hours for a reason!

Be Mindful of Crosswalks: Always yield to pedestrians at crosswalks and watch out for crossing guards directing traffic.

Limit Distractions: Keep your phone away and focus on the road. Distracted driving poses a significant risk to school children.

Encourage Safe Walking/Biking: Teach your kids to use sidewalks, designated bike lanes, and to always look both ways before crossing the street.

Let’s work together to ensure a safe and successful school year for our kids! fetyFirst

Rowan's Law Day -

September 25, 2024

On September 25, 2024, we honor Rowan's Law Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about concussion safety in youth sports. Rowan’s Law is named in memory of Rowan Stringer, a young rugby player from Ontario, Canada, who tragically passed away in 2013 due to complications from multiple concussions. Her story sparked a movement advocating for better concussion awareness and management. In 2018, the Ontario government enacted Rowan’s Law, establishing protocols to protect young athletes from the risks associated with head injuries. This legislation mandates education for athletes, parents, and coaches on concussion prevention and response.

Let us come together to foster a safer environment for young athletes and ensure that Rowan’s legacy continues to make an impact.

Fall Safety

As the leaves change color and temperatures drop, many of us enjoy the beauty of fall by spending time outdoors. However, it’s essential to be mindful of potential hazards during this season.

Watch Your Step:

Falling leaves can create slippery surfaces on sidewalks and pathways, which may lead to slips and trips.

Wear Appropriate Footwear: Choose shoes with good traction to help prevent slipping on wet or leafy surfaces.

Be Cautious of Obstacles: Keep an eye out for uneven surfaces, branches, and other debris that can pose tripping hazards.

Use Well-Lit Paths: As daylight fades earlier in the fall, ensure you use well-lit paths and carry a flashlight if walking in the evening.

Stay Aware of Your Surroundings: Avoid distractions like smartphones while walking, allowing you to be more mindful of your environment.

By taking these precautions, you can enjoy the beautiful fall scenery while staying safe and preventing accidents.
