Happy Holidays!
Big Brothers Big Sisters sends holiday greetings to all of you! We are grateful for all that you do all year long. All of the progress that we have made this year is very exciting. We are matching more children with police officers through our Bigs in Blue program and have extended it to all first responders. More children who are in a fragile housing situation are getting extra support through our COFIT (Children of Families in Transition) program. SUCCESS launched this year. It is a program for children in 8th -12th grade that provides them with various experiences to help them prepare for the post-secondary choice that is best for them, whether it is entering the workforce or going to college. Atrium Health added a third Beyond School Walls program to serve 25 more middle-school children. Our Young Professional Leadership Council of Bigs launched this year and held their first annual "A Big Night Out" and we can't wait to see what they have in store for 2019.
All of this is very exciting and we want to continue to do great things. What is frustrating, is to have children waiting to be matched. Our pool of volunteers is low and we need your support to help identify more Big Brothers and Big Sisters to help the children waiting to be matched and those who will be seeking to participate in the program.
January is Mentoring Month and we will be launching a campaign -
100 Mentors in 100 Days
beginning January 1, 2019. We will need everyone’s help to achieve our goal. Just refer one friend, family member or co-worker and you can help make a difference in not just your Little’s life, but in the life of another child as well.
We hope you enjoy this holiday season. We have so much to be thankful for, mostly because of all of you. Thank you! All the best to you and those you love!
Warmest wishes,
Donna
