ADVENTURE AWAITS AT THE BUSHWHEEL BASECAMP

At the SUN ‘n FUN STOL Bushwheel Basecamp, kids of all ages will have the chance to experience hands-on activities and adventures that highlight the beauty of outdoor exploration and the excitement of backcountry flying.

🚀 Outdoor Exploration Demonstrations: Discover how bush planes provide access to some of the most remote and beautiful places in nature. Through interactive displays and storytelling, kids will learn about wilderness adventures made possible by backcountry aviation.

🧭 Backcountry Scavenger Hunt: Kids & adults can embark on an exciting scavenger hunt around the Basecamp, searching for hidden treasures while learning fun facts about aviation and outdoor survival. Prizes await those who complete the hunt!

✈️ Up-Close with STOL Planes: Kids can meet real STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) pilots, sit in their impressive aircraft and ask questions. It’s a fantastic opportunity to spark curiosity about aviation and backcountry flying!

The SUN ‘n FUN Educational Forums are held in the (air-conditioned) Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA), our onsite aerospace-based high school. Collin McDonald is a pilot, mechanic, and professor with experience in both Part 61 and 141 schools. He has served as a medical relief pilot in the jungle regions of Papua New Guinea. Currently, he is a professor at Middle Tennessee State University in the Pilot Program and volunteers as a pilot with the Flagship Detroit Foundation’s DC-3. McDonald shares his aviation journey via his social media handle “The Flying Mechanic.”.
