"THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE"
THE AMELIA'S FOUNDER, BILL WARNER TO DEBUT NEW BOOK AT THE 26TH ANNUAL AMELIA ISLAND CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE
Jacksonville, FL – The Amelia is proud to announce that Founder and Chairman Bill Warner's new book, The Other Side of the Fence: Six Decades of Motorsports Photography, will debut May 20-23, 2021 at the 26th Annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.

Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Bill Warner, knew that racing would be an important part of his future at an early age. Warner’s sister Harriet, a photographer herself, would encourage his parents to buy Bill a camera for Christmas. The gift came with a promise:

“Do you know what this camera will do for you? It will get you on the other side of the fence.”

Harriet's words clung to Bill's heart. He would hone his craft and before long his photographs would work their way onto the pages of Sports Car Graphic and Road & Track. His passion would take him trackside photographing IMSA, NASCAR, Indianapolis, Formula 1, Can Am, Trans Am, Formula 5000 and Le Mans.
The Other Side of the Fence, Six Decades of Motorsport Photography Is a collection of those images photographed by Warner from age 16 (1959) to the present. The book features 200 pages and 240 images taken throughout his career.

His images have appeared worldwide from Australia to Europe and he won the Sports Car Club of America Trophy for Photographer of the year in 1970. His work has been displayed at the Petersen Museum and the Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance (Concours d'Elegance of America).

Bill is a member of the American Racing Photographers Association and the Road Racing Driver’s Club where he was the recipient of the “Bob Akin Speed with Style” Award.

Bill Warner's book, The Other Side of the Fence, will be available for sale at The Amelia's retail tent on the showfield. The author, Bill Warner, will be available for book signings at the Amelia's retail area on the showfield Friday, May 21, 2021 from 2-3pm and at Collier Booth, Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 1- 2pm.
What others are saying:
“Bill Warner has witnessed some of the greatest moments in racing and many of the sport’s special memories have been captured through his lens. I enjoy looking back at the racing action and the legends of motorsports through Bill’s images and this collection really provides a unique view of our sport’s history – from the other side of the fence.”

Roger Penske

"The Fangio of photography."

Sir Stirling Moss

“An incredible photo memoir by Bill Warner. A journey through road racing that shows us the people, the cars, the delicate moments, the fame, the glory, the disappointment. Bill Warner’s affectionate yet realistic portraits and captions are the best collection I’ve ever seen."

Mario Andretti
"As we move forward in this modern era of constant video coverage only the great art of the split-second still images captured by masters like Bill Warner will be left to remind us of what racing was really like when you could clearly see the intensity in a driver’s eyes and the emotion imparted by speed."

Peter Brock
"What an absolutely extraordinary collection of motor racing photography Bill Warner brings to you. I have known Bill now for fifty years, first meeting in the dusty paddocks of the very early 70’s when he was at his busiest. We immediately became fast friends and have remained so over the years. Many of his legendary photos from those days have now become iconic glimpses into the glory days of motor racing history, and will remain so far into the future. This is a book that any serious motor racing enthusiast will have to add to his or her collection of motor racing literature and memorabilia."
