CEO MESSAGE
It’s exciting to see that home-grown post-pandemic recovery seems to be the flavour of the month in the media, and that the home in question has firm foundations in BC. Business in Vancouver notes federal funding for Symvivo’s oral COVID-19 vaccine development and also celebrates Precision Nanosystem’s earlier award to develop a made-in-Canada vaccine facility

In Victoria, federal funding announced on Tuesday will support creation of the Centre for Advanced Materials & Related Technology (CAMTEC) BioMedical Core at the University of Victoria. Open to a broad range of users, the facility should help overcome some of the obstacles — namely space and specialized equipment —that currently limit the ability to scale up.
On the weekend, the Vancouver Sun celebrated the recent 2020 Capital Market Report from the BC Securities Commission, which shows $2.3 billion raised by the BC biotech sector. This translates as a 123 per cent increase, with the majority raised by Life Sciences BC members AbCellera Biologics, Zymeworks, Aurinia Pharmaceuticals, and Xenon Pharmaceuticals.

Congratulations to all for this wonderful news!
