I had the privilege of attending this week’s BC Government announcement of a $4.2M investment in a state-of-the-art Phase-1 clinical trials unit to be established at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital in Vancouver. This exciting introduction of the first non-cancer CT unit in Western Canada will enable biotech companies and research institutes to conduct early-stage clinical trials within BC, benefitting regional patients and the local economy.

The province is also providing $2.4M to establish an endowed UBC research chair focused on accelerating the province’s capacity to design and conduct trials for next-gen therapeutics.

Michael Smith Health Research BC has contributed $1.2M to support these initiatives, helping make BC a world-class clinical trials destination! Learn more.

This week, I was delighted to participate in an engaging discussion hosted by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade with regional leaders, including The Honourable Selina Robinson, BC Minister of Post Secondary Education & Future Skills.

The conversation focused on how industry, academia, and government are working together to address BC’s talent needs now and in the future!

LSBC was thrilled to co-host a booth with Invest Vancouver at this year’s MedTech Conference in Anaheim, CA.
