8th Grade Retreat
On June 1, 2018 our 8th grade students continued a BJP tradition by attending their class retreat. All 23 students attended their Commissioning Mass and received their St. Ignatius medals. Then returning to school at 6 p.m. to begin an evening of fun and fellowship. There were six group leaders and each gave a presentation. The themes this year were: Who Am I?, Who is God?, Leadership, Reconciliation, Friendship, and Love. The BJP community and our students families wrote letters to the students telling them of the good and important things that makes them God's children.

8th Grade Graduation 2018
The class of 2018 celebrated its commencement on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Teresa of Avila church.
Our commencement speaker was alumnus Ryan Emmanuel, BJP Class of 2013.  As a student at BJP, Ryan earned honors every marking period, and BJP honors 7 times.  After graduating, Ryan went on to Cristo Rey New York where he continued to earn honors.  While in high school, he participated in Minds Matter, a college access program, was president of the Modern Improv. Music Association, co-captain for the baseball team for three seasons, and continued to come back to BJP to volunteer both in the classroom tutoring students and helping lead sports and activities. Ryan just finished his freshman year at Fordham University's School of Business, receiving a full ride scholarship through the HEOP program. Thank you Ryan for inspiring our graduates.
This class of 23 students was offered scholarships worth more than $240,000.00 and accepted in excess of $172,000.00. The following Catholic schools will welcome our alumni this September: Bishop Loughlin High School, Cristo Rey Brooklyn, Cristo Rey New York, Fontbonne Hall Academy, Loyola School, Nazareth High School, Notre Dame High School, St. Jean Baptiste High School, St. Vincent Ferrer High School, Xaverian High School, and Xavier High School. Additionally, the following public high schools will welcome our alumni this September: Brooklyn High School of the Arts, Clara Barton High School, Edward Murrow High School, Providence High School (NC), Science Skills Center High School, and Uniondale High School (LI). Our Graduate Support Director will stay in touch with them through this important transition and monitor their continued academic successes. After many years of preparation, in the classroom and at summer camp, we are proud and excited for them to take the next step on their education journey.

Looking Forward to Camp Montmartre
July is just around the corner and that means BJP will be at Fairfield University in Connecticut for our summer leadership training camp. Our rising 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th grade students will enjoy a month of learning, fun, and community. Some of the activities will include swimming classes, camping, ropes courses, sports and so much more. Camp Director Irene Locario has been busy planning for this year's theme "The fire that lights up the fire in others". Our 14 camp counselors include 11 BJP alumni. What an great opportunity for our alumni to give back and to model what a BJP graduate looks like to our current students!

Welcome Gina Lombardo

BJP is pleased to announce the newest member of our team, Gina Lombardo. Gina joins us as the Director of Development. Her most recent position was as Director of Development for Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Fort Myers, Florida. The opportunity to work for such a worthy cause and be near her family brought Gina back to NY after many years in Florida. Welcome to the BJP family!
