Bardejov Gathering postponed until June Dear Bardejovers and friends, We recently learned that while the interior of the synagogue will be completed by May, it turns out that the outside area and the courtyard will not.  Therefore, the event will most likely take place in the latter part of June 2017. Once the program details are finalized, we will announce the new date. 72nd anniversary of Bardejov’s liberation

Last Thursday, January 19th, Pavol and Peter Hudak represented the BJPC in the annual commemoration ceremony in front of the memorial in the Slovak National Uprising square. Since 2015, the Hudaks have participated in the ceremony by presenting a wreath on behalf of the BJPC. The general ceremony—organized by the city of Bardejov— commemorates the liberation of Bardejov in WWII by the Soviet Army and the Czechoslovak Army. Since 2015, city officials led by Mayor Hanuschak have visited the Bardejov Holocaust Memorial and placed flowers in honor of the Jewish victims of the Holocaust following the general ceremony.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Friday, January 27th, 2017, marks the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, which since 2005 is known as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. We will join the international community in remembering the victims and honoring the heroes. International Holocaust Remembrance Day was adopted by the UN in 2005 as a day of remembrance to mark the liberation of Auschwitz and honor victims of the Nazi regime.
