We are excited to remind you of some of the exciting developments that are currently happening in Bardejov. This June we will be dedicating a museum building, completely reconstructed after being neglected since WW2. The building, known as the Beit Hamidrash, was originally used as the school building. After the dedication, the building will be curated with objects dedicated to perpetuating the history and heritage of the Jewish people who lived in Bardejov and Eastern Europe.
This museum will serve as a vital hub for education, remembrance, and memorialization of the vibrant cultural tapestry that defines the community. Through interactive exhibits, educational programs, and community events, the museum will provide visitors with a profound understanding of the rich heritage and contributions of the Bardejov community to Jewish history.
We believe that this museum will not only serve as a beacon of remembrance but also as a catalyst for fostering dialogue, understanding, and hope. It will be a place where people of all backgrounds can come together to honor the past, observe the present, and envision a brighter future. The museum is a piece of our journey of continued growth as a preservation and heritage organization. Continued growth during a time reminiscent of decades ago when hatred led to the greatest atrocities to the Jewish people.
I invite you to join us in celebrating and commemorating this exciting milestone and to support us in our continued efforts to preserve and promote the legacy of the Bardejov Jewish community. Together, we can ensure that the history and contribution of our ancestors are never forgotten and that their legacy continues to inspire future generations forever. Aside from the newly constructed museum, we have reconstructed the Jewish Cemetery, built a world-renowned Holocaust Memorial, and we are working on the plans for the Mikveh. Finally, Bardejov Jewish Preservation Committee is proud to have produced a film entitled “Bardejov”.
The film is based on the true story of the Rafuel Lowy and his courageous fight to save the lives of 300 young Bardejov women. It shows the untold story of the Holocaust, that of the Jews fighting to save girls from getting on the transports to Auschwitz. Bardejov Jewish Preservation Committee is proud to be a part of “Bardejov” the film and hope that you will watch it. The film is available for streaming on Apple+, Amazon Prime, Google Play, Microsoft Xbox, Vimeo, VUDU and YouTube in the United States and will soon be released globally.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to embarking on this journey together, it has just begun!
