Knights of the Week

Each week Bishop Kelly faculty and staff nominate students, and students nominate faculty and staff, who have demonstrated the BK Way attributes of Faith, Safe and Caring Place, Academic Excellence, Activities, Honor, Generosity, Community, and Partnership.

Congratulations to this week's Knights of the Week!

Elleyna Bishop

Generosity, Safe and Caring Place

Elleyna is a very generous and caring individual, who allows others to feel comfortable enough to be themselves while working with others. She gives the gift of time, to allow others to form their own thoughts before sharing her own. I've witnessed her caring approach in the classroom as well as in the halls with her friends, peers, and teachers.

Jackson Duncan

Safe and Caring Place

Jackson Duncan has demonstrated the true meaning of inclusivity. He ensures that his peers are included no matter what the situation. I have seen him take a few underclassmen under his wing. He may not know it but those kind acts go a long way in students who are impressionable.

Ben Boroff

Faith

Ben is friendly, hard working, committed and faithful. He is genuine and kind and goes out of his way to be a light to others.

BK Staff of the Week

Mr. Derek McCormick

Safe and Caring Place, Academic Excellence, Community

  • Mr. McCormick is nice to everyone in the class I am in, and is always there if you need to talk. He is also very funny.
  • He is good at teaching. He is fun in class and he is interactive.
  • He helped me so much in general.
  • Mr. McCormick creates a fun learning environment and really cares for his students.
  • He always makes class fun and enjoyable. He is always so helpful. He encourages us to do our best.
  • He makes government fun and keeps the class always doing something productive.

Cost: $175 (some partial scholarships are available)

Cost includes: ICYC Registration, all meals, transportation, hotel lodging, ICYC t-shirt

BK Sophomores: All BK Sophomores attending this event together will get out of class at noon on Friday, March 8th in order to participate in an afternoon pre-conference mini-retreat at BK to prepare for ICYC. We will bus students out to the Idaho Center at 5:30pm.

BK will provide small group leaders and chaperones for this event. Parents will need to pick-up their teen(s) on Sunday at noon from the Idaho Center.

ICYC is a powerful Catholic High School Conference hosted by the Diocese of Boise that brings in National Catholic Speakers, musicians and entertainment with the goal of creating a meaningful opportunity for teens to encounter God’s profound love, mercy, and grace. Mass with Bishop Peter, opportunities for reconciliation and adoration are also part of this experience.

Students in grades 9,11, & 12 that would like to attend ICYC are encouraged to register through their parish.

Diocesan News

Dear Catholic School Families

House Bill H447 has finally been introduced and now is the time to show support for the $5,000 tax credit being proposed this session.

The Diocese -with support from the Bishop- has been very involved with this legislation. We believe it is important that every parent has the information and is given the opportunity to support this legislation as well.

There are a few ways parents can get involved, the most impactful being a personal email or phone call to the lawmakers within your voting district, especially if one of those representatives sits on the House Revenue and Taxation Committee. This correspondence can be concise and should not take too much time. For example:

Email using the subject line “Please Support H447 Rep Horman’s School Tax Credit” or leave a message for your representatives at their State House phone number: “My name is ________and I am a voter in your district. I urge you to vote in favor of H447 in support of the school choice tax credit.”

Another way for parents to show support is by signing the School Choice Petition which automatically sends a message of support to district representatives and senators. Though we do not yet have a day for the hearing, any of the above means of communication will make a difference. The Diocese of Boise will be in touch once again when we know the hearing date. If you would like to give testimony, either written or in person, please reach out to Assistant Superintendent Christina Linder at [email protected] and she can provide you with further information.

Attendance Office Procedures

  • Parents are asked to email the school’s Attendance Office before 9:30am on the day a student will be absent from class for all or part of the school day due to an illness or an appointment. That email is [email protected]
  • Bishop Kelly is a closed campus. If students need to leave school for any reason, parents must notify the Attendance Office by emailing [email protected] before school.
  • Students must sign-out when they leave campus during the school day, and sign back in when they return. They will be asked for verification of any professional appointments upon returning to school. (i.e. a doctor’s note)
