A Note from Bill and Sarah

Dear Bishop Kelly Families,

This is a special note from BK President Bill Avey and incoming BK Principal, Dr. Sarah Quilici, sharing with you key appointments for the 2023-2024 school year.

Sarah's recent promotion to Principal opened up a Vice-Principal position. After a thorough search and selection process, including both internal and external candidates, we are excited to share that BK's own Missy Nichols will join the administration team next school year as Vice-Principal. Missy’s wealth of classroom teaching experience, expectation of excellence in sport, and heart for Campus Ministry position her to serve effectively in this new role. We are incredibly excited to have Missy join the BK administration and know you will enjoy getting to know her better in the coming year. Missy will complete the current year teaching English, coaching BK Softball, and serving with Campus Ministry. This appointment is effective with the start of the 2023-2024 school year.

Speaking of Campus Ministry, we have more exciting news. As you may be aware, our current Campus Minister Anna McCarthy is departing BK at the end of the current school year to attend the Augustine Institute in Denver to pursue her Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology. We will miss Anna, but are very happy for her and wish her all the best as she pursues these next steps in her career.

We are pleased to share with you that former BK Campus Minister Lorissa Horn is returning to her role and will be leading BK Campus Ministry beginning at the start the 2023-2024 school year. In addition to her fabulous first stint as BK Campus Minister, Lorissa, along with her husband Johnny, has served for 23 years as the Youth Minister at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Lorissa has a well deserved reputation for her ability to connect with and minister to the youth of our community and we are incredibly excited to have her return to the BK team.

Please join us in welcoming Missy and Lorissa to their new roles, and in congratulating Anna on her exciting future plans.

Peace,

Bill and Sarah

Redinger Family Scholarship

for a rising BK Senior

The Redinger Family Scholarship" is a financial award available through the Bishop Kelly Foundation to a rising senior for a $1200 scholarship to be used toward tuition. This scholarship was established by Jim and Vickie Redinger, long-time supporters of Bishop Kelly and parents of BK alums Mike (Class of ‘03) and Tom (Class of ‘05). Jim and Vickie wish to honor a student whose interests align with those areas that their sons found of particular value while they were at BK as well as later in their lives. The recipient will be selected by the Redinger family after submitting an application that meets a specific list of criteria, including academics and athletics, with preference given to students who have exhibited leadership and STEM activities.  To apply, complete THIS APPLICATION FORM by Wednesday, May 10th and submit it in a sealed envelope to the front office. Please clearly label the envelope "Bishop Kelly Foundation, attention Kim Malvick"

Nurses Corner

Idaho Law Requires that in addition to childhood vaccines, all incoming 12th grade students have proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) and two meningococcal shots (unless the first dose was given at age 16 or older) or file an exemption, in order to attend school in the fall.

Remember, in addition to the 12th grade shots, there are several important vaccines recommended for teens, including varicella (if they never had chickenpox disease), the HPV vaccine series, and a seasonal flu vaccine.

Talk to your doctor for more information.

Attention parents of French students:

BK French students are gearing up for our biennial French Exchange! 32 French students are sending videos, letters, and photos, and are being matched

with BK French students who wish to house them and visit them in France in return. Our French friends will be visiting us the second week of October 2023. Then,

There will be a meeting in Madame Ysursa’s Room, 111, on Wednesday May 10 at 6pm. Please come for more information, a planning session for the French Exchange, and to find out more about our trip to France.

French students involved in the Exchange or in French 2-5 are invited to FRANCE!

Total Cost : $3200.

BK is going on Pilgrimage and current Sophomores and Freshmen are invited! In May of 2024, we will head to Basque Country and Galicia to walk portions of the ancient Camino de Santiago pilgrim trail. Applications and full itinerary will be available soon.

  • Students must sign-out when they leave campus during the school day, and sign back in when they return. They will be asked for verification of any professional appointments upon returning to school. (i.e. a doctor’s note)
