Greetings BLC Members,

I hope you are getting through these final weeks of winter.  I seem to struggle more and more each year with the long transition time from winter to spring and ultimately from hard water to open water.  If you struggle like me, I hope you get a chance to make an early Rainy River or Mississippi River run or better yet, head south a couple states and chase some early season lunge.  And if this is not a possibility, we have a ton of great upcoming activities with the BLC that are sure to get you excited for the upcoming season.  

The first thing up is our annual Lure Swap which will be held next Tuesday at our monthly open meeting from 7-9pm at the Nisswa American Legion.  This is one of your top attended events of the year, a ton of fun, and a great way to both upsize and downsize your tackle collection.  Feel free to bring in anything fishing that you would like to sell, trade or even donate.  Attendees will be given the chance to display baits and fishing related items while members browse and buy.  This is also a great way to introduce a new person to the sport and get them some lures and equipment at a great price.  It’s like an indoor garage sale with only fishing related items and you can have a beverage while you shop.  What could be better?  Hope to see you there.  

Next up is our Annual Sportsman’s Banquet which will be held March 25th, 2023 at the Cragun’s Pavilion.  BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!!  This event will have tens of thousands of dollars in prizes, offers a great meal, and is a really fun way to network with other sportsmen and women in the area.  We have been working to get some of the best prizes we have ever offered and will have a bunch of firearms up for grabs as well.  Limited tickets are available again this year so buy now.

The 2023 Annual Sportsman's Banquet is almost here and this is shaping up to be a great event. Securing your tickets online is quick and easy. You can also purchase your tickets in person at the Lure Swap meeting or by stopping by the BLC booth at the MN Muskie Expo.

The chapter will have a booth at the MN Muskie Expo in March. Stop by and say hello! While you're there, sign up for the Shootout, buy your banquet tickets, or pick up some BLC merchandise! Remember, it's a new location as of last year at the Warner Coliseum at the State Fairgrounds.
2023 Gil Hamm
Chapter Challunge

As winners of the 2022 Gil Hamm, the BLC is responsible for selecting the destination and hosting the event for 2023 and we will be heading to Lake Vermilion out of Vermilion Dam Lodge. About a decade ago, the BLC helped the Star of the North Chapter host the Gil Hamm at this same location. And people are still talking about that as the best Gil Hamm event they have ever attended. So the bar has been set high and we are ready for that challenge!

We will be heading back to Agency Bay Lodge for the 2023 Jeff Young Memorial Muskie Shootout. Save the date and start making plans to join us on October 7-8 on beautiful Leech Lake!
