Most years we hold a Memorial outing to honor those members who are no longer with us and this event is typically held separately from any of our regular MHOTY Outings. This year due to so many things going on, we have decided to make an exception and combine the two.

What does this mean? The rules of the MHOTY will remain unchanged.

Memorial: This is held as kind of a casual tournament format. There is no entry to fish. But you MUST be a member to participate. We can sign you up as a member in the morning before we head out. There will be a big fish pot of $10 each for those that would like to participate and that must be paid prior to the beginning of fishing hours at the Erickson's Landing/Kabekona public access. We will meet back at the same access at 4:00 where we will have a few raffles and a potluck. We will also have cash prizes for the top 3 places.

Access location change from what was in the newsletter

Due to a repaving project at the Walker City Park, that access is temporarily closed and we will be using the Erickson's Landing/Kabekona access just to the north of Walker. Take your first immediate right, heading north, after you cross the Kabekona bridge.

MHOTY/Memorial Details: Leech Lake, Saturday September 16. 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. We will launch out of Erickson's Landing/Kabekona access.

MHOTY Rules/Scoring System

* Fish the entire time or just part of the day. No entry fee. Need not be a member to fish. But ONLY members can accumulate points.

* Attendance - 1 point

* Fish caught - Points earned will be the same as the release standings. A 30" fish will receive 4 points with 1 additional point for each additional inch. (i.e. - a 40" fish will receive 14 points)

* Net man. If you net a fish caught during the outing, you will receive 1 point.

* Text or call our outing director (Jay Young) at 218-821-9964 to receive your attendance point and to report any fish caught.

* The winner of any individual outing will receive a $20 Musky Tackle Online gift card. The year end MHOTY will receive a $50 Musky Tackle Online gift card and a traveling trophy filled with your favorite beverage.
