WILPF US MEMORANDUM
To: All WILPF US Members
From: The National Board of WILPF US
Date: September 11, 2022
Re: WILPF US and the Black liberation Caucus (BLC)
Questions have been raised about why the Black Liberation Caucus (BLC) is not recognized by WILPF US.
Civil Rights
1. WILPF opposes discrimination based upon race, color, gender, sexual or affectional orientation, religion, disability, age, marital status, or receipt of public assistance.
To date, the BLC bars participation and membership based on race. The principal organizer and other organizers of this faction have been adamant in stating this fact.
Barring members within WILPF US, as a whole and/or any subdivision therein, based on race is antithetical to the social and moral values that WILPF US embraces.
The WILPF US national Board, by the laws under which we are incorporated, as well as the bylaws which we were required to establish and follow, is entrusted with the responsibility to maintain and uphold the integrity of this great peace organization within the U.S. Section.
Additionally, it should be noted that factions, which is what the BLC functions as, are destructive elements in any organization. The WILPF US national Board seeks to make sure that all components within WILPF US work in unity and peace and that factionalism is an unwelcome disruptive element within our Section.
It is the legal and ethical responsibility of the WILPF US national Board to ensure that all our members work to respect our Mission and Vision that we have in the U.S. Section undertaken and maintained for the past one hundred seven years as a peace organization since our founding in 1915.
