AAU stands for Amateur Athletic Union and originated in the USA to give athletes the chance to showcase their talents to potential college and pro scouts.

The AAU has also brought its competitions to Australian shores and we want to give our BMBA teams a chance to participate in these AAU tournaments here. Our immediate goal is to form teams and play in AAU tournaments in 2023 in Melbourne, and once established our ultimate ambition is to travel to the USA to participate in their elite tournaments that are conducted in various states. Our first target for an overseas tour will be for July 2024 and then conduct them either annually or bi-annually from that point

While are looking further forward, especially for most of our younger participants, where they can dream of bigger things with the chance of a USA tour later in their secondary college school years. It's important to raise awareness now as there is significant planning and fundraising that needs to take place for these tours to happen.

Players from any club, domestic or Representative can play with the BMBA in these tournaments, so feel free to spread the word!

BMBA AAU TEAMS

ARE A PART OF OUR

2023 "GET STARTED" PROGRAM

We have recently launched our "2023 Get Started Program". Our BMBA AAU teams will be a part of that program.

• BMBA juniors now have the opportunity to play in the world's most scouted basketball tournaments.
• In doing so, they will have the chance to play against some of the best players and teams in the state
• Those BMBA juniors will also be playing in front of scouts from the USA and abroad.
• Through this, there is the potential to secure things such as scholarships through USA High Schools and Colleges.
• This provides a pathway that no other domestic club and to my knowledge no other rep club provides.
• Most excitingly, our kids now will have the chance to participate in the trip of a lifetime, to experience another country, it's people, it sights and sounds, all while playing basketball
