For Students
Nevada Promise Scholarship Deadline

The deadline to apply for the Nevada Promise Scholarship is March 1! Below are the requirements to apply, and find a checklist here.

  • The Nevada Promise Program Training must be completed either by attending the Nevada Promise Program Webinar or by completing the training through TMCC’s online student learning system: Canvas.
  • Students that are interested in attending the webinar can RSVP on their website.
  • To complete the training via the online workshop, you must have a TMCC username and password. For students who would like to complete the training through Canvas but do not have access to the course, they can send in their full name and 10-Digit NSHE ID number and TMCC will add them to the course.

  • Complete a 2021-2022 FAFSA. Please make sure to include TMCC’s school code (010363) on your FAFSA to ensure they receive it on time.
  • For assistance, please contact TMCC’s Financial Aid Office to set up a virtual appointment.
  • DACA students are required to complete the 2021-2022 FAFSA
  • If students are not eligible to submit a FAFSA, please email nvpromise@tmcc.edu for further instructions.
  • To confirm you have submitted a FAFSA, find your confirmation email from Federal Student Aid and log into your MyTMCC account. For further questions, you may email financialaid@tmcc.edu.
Reminder for Students Who Drive to Campus

Now that we have more students driving to school, please remember to arrive a little earlier than usual. It is taking students longer to park and come to class because our student parking lot is now being used at a higher capacity. Students have done a great job so far, but more time in the morning will lead to fewer problems getting to class. Thank you!

For Parents
Open Enrollment

Open enrollment for new and returning students begins on March 8! A discounted rate of $700 will be applied until March 15, in which the price will increase to $750. Open enrollment will continue through June 30 (space permitting). After June 30, if we still have room for additional students, the enrollment fee will increase to $1,000.
Parent/Teacher Conferences

This is a friendly reminder that Thursday and Friday, March 11 and 12 are 1:00 pm releases for all students due to Parent/Teacher Conferences. Teachers will be requesting specific conferences with parents of students who are performing below an average level. They will also offer availability to others as their schedule allows. Please watch for emails from teachers for conference invites!

Additionally, teachers are going to make time for students who need extra assistance this week so they can have a strong start to the second quarter. Stay tuned for requests from teachers to meet with students right after school to help them on a better path as we approach the end of the quarter.

If you have any additional questions, please contact your child's teacher directly.

Athletics
Informed Consent Form for Football

In order for your student to receive a COVID-19 test at Bishop Manogue, we must receive a signed informed consent form no later than Monday, March 1. If you have multiple children involved in BMCHS athletics, you must submit a separate Informed Consent form for each child.

BMCHS Concussion Program

***If you are an athlete or parent of an athlete please watch this video to learn about the essential information you need to know about the BMCHS Concussion Program***

This video features Sarah Smith (Athletic Trainer) and Dr. Nicholas Murray (Head of UNR Neuromechanics Lab). They speak on the important details of the BMCHS Concussion Protocol, including (1) Concussion reporting, (2) The 3-tier baseline testing process, (3) Scheduling the initial (free) evaluation with Dr. Murray in the lab, (4) Our concussion-trained preferred provider list and (5) Home care instructions following a concussion.

Sarah Smith is the primary contact for all suspected head injuries and works closely with you as parents, athletes, and/or coaches as well as Dr. Murray and his team from the moment of injury all the way through full clearance/return to sport. Please reach out to your Athletic Trainer at sarah.smith@bishopmanogue.org at any time for questions, concerns, and for any communication about the health of your athlete.

Performing Arts
All-State Choir Results

Every year, each district in the state of Nevada conducts two choral assessments Honor Choir and All-State. Participating students must accurately sing a solo, sight-read a rhythm, sight-sing a melody, sing chords, intervals, and a chromatic scale.

Congratulations to Afsaneh Hormuzdi, on her successful audition. Afsaneh will go on to participate in a virtual choir with the top choral students, who received the highest All-State assessment scores, from all over the state of Nevada. They will work with Giselle Wyers, the Donald E. Petersen Endowed Professor of Choral Music at the University of Washington. The workshop will end with a virtual performance given by the All-State choir.
Music in Our Schools Month

March is the National Association for Music Educators, Music In Our Schools, month. This year's theme is "Music: the sound of my heart." Each Wire will feature special and informative sections about the performing arts programs here at Bishop Manogue. Each section will either feature music students sharing their experiences here at Manogue, articles about the importance of music in your life, or a fun video made by the students. Stay tuned also for some fun MinerTv videos.
Do You Play an Orchestral String Instrument?

Mrs. Hilliard is planning a unique collaborative experience with the Women's Choir, Miner Step (our newly formed men's choir), students from our partner schools, and we would like to invite all Manogue students who play a string instrument to join us on our project. If you play violin, viola, cello, or string bass, please contact Mrs.Hilliard at kimberly.hilliard@bishopmanogue.org or call 775-336-6049.
