Athletic Communication from July 6
Dear BMCHS Student-Athlete families,
We have been notified that over the holiday weekend a small number of members in our athletic community were potentially exposed to COVID-19. These individuals are now exhibiting symptoms and getting tested. There are no confirmed cases at this time. In an abundance of caution, all high school sports activities are canceled until further notice. We request that families monitor their student-athlete closely and get them a test if they exhibit any symptoms (click
for a list of symptoms). We also request that if a student-athlete is being tested, he/she does not return to practice/play until negative test results are confirmed and communicated to their coach.
The school has plans and precautionary measures in place for the academic year should possible exposure happen and/or symptoms are exhibited. In this non-essential period of athletics, we feel it is in the best interest of our community to cancel on-campus activities. This will not always be the case. With a modified graduation ceremony taking place this week and our hope to fully return to school, we want to minimize any potential exposure as best we can. Again, there are policies and procedures in place for the school year and we do not intend to close campus during essential learning time unless it is required. We will adhere to state guidelines for positive test results within our own school community.
Your student-athlete’s health and well being are of the highest importance to us. We know that overall well being includes both mental and physical components and that for many students athletic participation is a need. Please know we are balancing understanding our teens, their physical and emotional needs, the requirements issued to us by the state, and the desire to keep our students COVID-19 free. Please look for an email from your specific coach for information relating to the restart of practices/play.
We wish you all a restful and healthy summer and look forward to seeing you soon.
