BMH holds CORE Flag Raising Ceremony to encourage organ donation
Boone Memorial Hospital held a CORE Flag Raising Ceremony on May 3rd. Speakers included Terri Castle, RN/BMH Chief Nursing Officer; Jessica Wheeler, Professional Service Liaison & Donor Family Support Coordinator for CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education); Kidney Recipient, Mark Hale and Liver Donor, Kristen Ferguson. Kristen is also an employee of Boone Memorial and works in the Business Office. Master of Ceremonies was Mark Linville, BMH Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.
The annual observance encourages organ donation awareness and commemorates organ donors and their families. Boone Memorial Hospital supports CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education) and holds a flag raising ceremony annually to bring more awareness to national donate life initiatives.
Dr. H. Wesley Lafferty named President of the West Virginia American Academy of Family Physicians
Dr. H. Wesley Lafferty, family medicine physician at Boone Memorial Hospital in Madison West Virginia, was sworn in on March 26th as the president of the WV American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).
Girl Scouts sell and donate cookies to 'Health Care Heroes' at Boone Memorial Hospital
Health Care Heroes is an annual event where Girl Scouts of the Black Diamond Council hosts cookie booths near hospitals and other medical facilities to encourage the community to purchase cookies that can then be donated to health care heroes.

"Giving back to the community is important to Girl Scouts, and Health Care Heroes is a great opportunity for us to show how much these folks mean to us," said Beth Casey, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond.

Brighter Futures is a Boone Memorial Hospital Substance and Mental Health Treatment Program. We care for patients suffering from substance use disorders.
