Kevin is happy it's the weekend.

BMHS Highlights

This week, our team worked hard facilitating adoptions, with 20 pets finding new homes between the 16th and the 22nd.

Our Development team is on the final stretch of preparing for the launch of Dog Jog next week. We're excited to soon share some announcements and ways for all staff to participate in this fun event, which will be in its 10th year this May!

In facility updates, the Shelter Committee has procured new sinks, set to be installed shortly, enhancing our workspace and care capabilities.

We're on the brink of releasing the new Carabiner Checklist. A big thank you for your patience and understanding. A special shout-out from Animal Care to Development Manager Kristin Lewis and our dedicated dog walkers, whose efforts ensure our dogs consistently enjoy four walks daily — a fantastic achievement!

Lastly, don't forget the volunteer huddle happening at 12 p.m. on the 27th! Attendees will have a chance to win a raffle basket, which includes kitchen towels, a BMHS tumbler, a mug, treats, and a $50 Walla Walla Bread Co gift card. Your participation and support make a world of difference!

Kibble Kwest Update

Since its launch on February 5, our Kibble Kwest campaign has had 31 generous donors contributing a total of $4,512 and a $1,000 pledge so far with 21 days to go.

Katy Scheck heads out on a Pawsitive Adventure with Shakira and daughter Morgan.

VOLUNTEER CORNER: Katy Scheck

Since January, Katy Scheck has been a dynamic presence at the Blue Mountain Humane Society, dedicating 30 hours of her time so far to dog walking, including Pawsitive Adventures and cat adoption. Her ability to connect animals with loving families is remarkable, a skill likely influenced by her vibrant background in marketing and business transformation. Katy's journey includes pivotal roles as Head of Performance Marketing for Prime Video International at Amazon and co-founding Dwell Custom.

Katy, alongside her 13-year-old daughter Morgan, who joins her in caring for the cats, embodies the spirit of volunteerism that is crucial to our mission. Volunteers like Katy are the backbone of our organization, providing essential services that directly contribute to the welfare of animals in our care. Their commitment and passion enable us to extend our reach and impact within the community, ensuring every animal receives the love and care they deserve. Katy's contributions are a testament to the powerful role volunteers play in our ongoing efforts to create a better world for animals.
