Dear Families,

Last week, Beachwood Middle School was filled with excitement and energy as we celebrated Spirit Week. A huge thank you to our student council for their coordination and enthusiasm in making this event a success. From themed days to fun activities, it was wonderful to see our students come together and show their school spirit.

Looking ahead, we are excited to host our Veterans Day assembly next Monday, November 11, where we will honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Lastly, please remember to sign up for parent-teacher conferences, which are scheduled for next week. Your involvement is crucial to your child’s success, and we look forward to your continued partnership.

I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Dr. Tony Srithai

Principal

Classroom Spotlight: Rachel Hartwig, Art Teacher

Our sixth-grade artists currently have their work on display at Beachwood Middle School. After learning about the role of paper in traditions from different cultures, they decorated the windows surrounding the atrium with beautiful window stars made from folded translucent paper. Also on display is the "Collaboration Tessellation," created by combining pieces drawn by each student. Students chose one of the symbols from their tessellation to build out of clay as a mini-sculpture. Then they added attachments for keychains, jibbitz (charms for Crocs), or magnets to use in their lockers.

Previously on display was work from eighth graders. Students demonstrated the Zentangle process using their choice of acrylic paint on canvas board, or ink on bristol paper. Students also had their choice of working independently for this project, or collaborating with friends to create larger artworks. The work they created is stunning, and can be seen on display again during our district Art Show this coming May.

Veterans Day Celebration

November 11 | 2:08 p.m.

Beachwood Middle School is proud to host a special Veterans Day celebration including any parent, guardian, friend, or community member that you know who has served, or currently is serving, in the military. If you wish to share a photo including the name, relationship to you, and short paragraph about these individuals, we would be honored to share them with our students and staff.

In addition, we are planning to have a flag ceremony in the afternoon where students will place a small flag around our school flag in memory of, and thanks, to all who have served or are currently serving our Country. We are excited that the Beachwood Middle School orchestra will be performing for this special event.

This exciting event will take place on Monday, November 11, starting at approximately 2:08 p.m. in the auditorium and ending in the front of Beachwood Middle School. All are welcome to attend. Members of the military and veterans, in uniform if you choose to do so, would be a positive experience for all. It would be wonderful for our students to see those who have served.

Please send any photo and information to:

Thank you in advance and we hope to see you on November 11.
