Events

We had an exciting week with vendor meet & greets, a silent auction, Member-Owner appreciation days and an ice cream social.

Levi (pictured above) was the winner of the silent auction. He was able to take home a new handcrafted cutting board courtesy of Adult & Teen Challenge.

Above: Nancy, Netse and Amy ready to scoop ice cream and dish sundae fixings at the Ice Cream Social that will benefit the First Baptist Church community soup kitchen.

Second Chance Composting set up an informational meet and greet table offering compost advice and services.

For plastic awareness,

GreeNA hosted a contest and shared information on recycling.

Above: High Lawn Farm, cheese expert & local vendor, shared delicious samples of cheeses that we carry and personal stories on how they're made.

Below: The next vendor meet & greet - Ahlbin's, featuring their tried & true fire cider.

Every Penny Counts

Wild Oats Market

Every Penny Counts is our round-up program that benefits non-profits. You can round-up or donate a denomination of your choosing at checkout when you shop the co-op. For details, please click here to view the donations page.

Thank you for your generosity when donating in July to Northern Berkshire United Way. Last week, Netse (Our General Manger) was excited to deliver the donations, ($2,873.35), to Patti (Interim Director) and Tyler (Vice President) from Northern Berkshire United Way. These donations will help kids and families with a wide array of services in the areas of: Education, Health, Financial Stability and the Well-being of the Communities in Northern Berkshire County and Stamford, Vermont. Plus, Amy (the co-ops Marketing Manager) had an informative interview with Patti about the organization (click here to watch the interview).

The September 2023 program recipient is the Berkshire County Kids Place and Violence Prevention Center, Inc. - click here for details.

Your donation to this non-profit will help the organization provide an interdisciplinary, cooperative team approach to address the needs of children subjected to violence as victims or as witnesses and to their non-offending family members. The center provides a safe, caring, home-like atmosphere that coordinates the combined knowledge of law enforcement, social service, medical, prosecutorial, and mental health agencies to ensure an effective response to childhood trauma.

We invite you to shop the coop and donate during checkout.

Message from the Board

INTERESTED IN JOINING THE WILD OATS BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

Do you enjoy being a Wild Oats member-owner and supporting its values and role in the community? Are you passionate about building our local food economy and advancing a cooperatively owned, democratically-run local business? Are you a team player who would enjoy working with a group of respectful, thoughtful, and collaborative neighbors? If you answered yes to these questions, we would value your participation on the Board. The nine-member Board is elected at the annual member-owner meeting. Directors serve for three years, with three positions up for election each year. The Board is responsible for ensuring the successful performance of the store. This includes developing clearly stated operating policies, delegating responsibility for the store’s day-to-day management to staff, and monitoring policy compliance. Generally, the Board focuses on strategic planning, financial oversight, member-owner communications, and community outreach. It does not make decisions about, become involved with, or take part in any of the day-to-day activities of Wild Oats.

To be considered, directors must be member-owners of Wild Oats, over age 21, and cannot be employed by the store. The Board holds one regular meeting each month lasting two to three hours, and may require prep time prior to the meeting of one to two hours. In addition, each Board member generally serves on one of the Board’s committees which meet periodically.

To express interest in running for the Board, or simply to learn more, send an email to [email protected].
