BOMA FTLPB PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Are we really coming to an end to a year that has reshaped our world and industry?

2020...I know we all have a few choice words when we say that. It will be a year we will always remember while others will simply fade into the past.

We have been working behind the scenes at BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches, not only to provide you with our normal valuable programming, but to also do a personal-enrichment series.

Zoom has allowed us to reach our members where they are – some at work, some at home and some on the road. Although it is different, it is a way that has shown to be an effective networking tool for those on the calls.

This is where YOU come into play.

We need you. We need you to stay engaged.

We need your suggestions for programming, your involvement in committees, your sponsorship and your participation with our organization.

Melanie Schrul, our wonderful BAE, is here to help guide you. Or we ask that you reach out to one of our board members or committee Chairs. They will be happy to have a conversation and gladly welcome your input.

Last quarter we put together the following list of program offerings:

  • Resiliency and Sea Level Rise & the Effects on South Florida Real Estate
  • 5G and CRE: Impact on the Industry
  • Communication for a Better Customer Experience
  • Apps Tech Tools and Tips to Time Management
  • Emotional Resilience and Success
  • Engineering Breakfast: The National Fire Protection, a Partnership for Building Safety and Security
  • From Adversity Comes Greatness: Making a Case for Greatness
  • Unlocking Hidden Value in B/C Office Buildings
  • Elevate Your Building With a 360 Designation

I have learned some very valuable skills that add value to me and the assets that I manage, and I hope you have also.

What's coming up?

We are hoping to catch up with many of our members on the December 9th Holiday get together event – yes, a Zoom call. Let’s see where our members are, what have they been up to? And if you are shy, do a shout-out on the Chat button. We want to hear from you!

We will start the year off in January with a Market Update because we want our members to be informed. We all need to see what is going on and where. Our head needs to be back in the game, even if some of the game has changed. Let’s work to navigate this new era together.

I look forward to seeing you on December 9th!

UPCOMING EVENTS
Join Us For a Different Kind of Holiday Party
We don't want social distancing to dampen our spirits, so we are going virtual. Join us from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere else you so choose for a holiday gathering of our members.

Put on your holiday sweaters, festive hats, pour a drink, grab some snacks and enjoy conversation and camaraderie in our last gathering of your fellow BOMA Peeps for the year.

By the way, did we mention RAFFLE PRIZES?!
Planning for 2021

While we don't know what 2021 will look like with 100% certainty, we are optimistic! Please keep these events and dates in mind as you plan ahead.
General Meeting & Market Update
Like everyone, we are looking forward to the year ahead. The events of 2020 had far-reaching implications so, as with anything we do in Property Management, we need a good assessment of where we currently stand. Our market update will cover the good, the bad, and the ugly. Venue to be determined.
BOMA Day & Committee Meetings
Our annual golf outing was greatly missed in 2020 so we are going to make it extra special. We'll return to a newly renovated golf course at Jacaranda Country Club on April 15th. Our committee will begin meeting in January so that we are ready to bring the fun! Watch your inbox for the Kick Off Meeting information.
NOTE: While we are optimistic for in-person events, we are aware of and continue to monitor the current guidelines for our health and well-being. We will plan accordingly with everyone's safety and comfort in mind. Meeting information will be forthcoming about how we will meet so that we are all able to reasonably plan.
Professional Development
BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches hosts in-class Property Management courses that can be used as stand-alone professional development or toward your RPA or FMA certification.

Dates and locations are to be determined, but we have determined our Property Management Educational course offerings for 2021. If you are in need of a particular course but do not see it listed, please be sure to contact our Education Chair, Bunnie Willis.
Get Social With Us
While we may not be able to see each other in person, we want to stay connected with you virtually. You can find us on Facebook and LinkedIn. This is where we will share tidbits of community information we hear and see between our member updates. Follow us, tag us, or share information with us. And be sure to use our hashtag: #BOMAPeeps!
