SPRING SEMINAR: CONNECTING WITH YOUR A-TEAM IN A VIRTUAL WORLD
On April 21st, BOMA OC’s highly anticipated Virtual Town Hall went live on Zoom, moderated by Mike Kent of Goodman, and featuring Spencer Levy of CBRE as they discussed the Q2 Economic Forecast.
Spencer Levy is the Chairman of Americas Research and Senior Economic Advisor for CBRE, the largest commercial real estate firm in the world. Spencer is the chief spokesman on real estate matters for CBRE in the Americas and is the one of the most sought-after speakers in the commercial real estate industry.
Seated in his ideal “Godfather” look-alike office, of which he is very proud, Mr. Levy reported that not everything is as economically as dismal as it would seem and seemed to be encouraged at how quickly things are recovering from the pandemic. He shared his concerns with the housing market as well as his extreme distrust in cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.
Attendees also got a glimpse of his delightful sense of humor and caught a lot of his classic rock references. For those interested to hear more from Mr. Levy, his podcast, The Weekly Take is available on all platforms including Apple, Spotify and Google.

BOMA OC PARTNERS WITH WORKING WARDROBES - DONATES OVER 20,000 PIECES FOR LOCAL JOB SEEKERS
Through the month of March, many BOMAOC members placed large donation bins on their properties and began collecting business and business casual articles of clothing. The result was over 20,000 donated items, filling gargantuan cardboard boxes. All that was left to do was to have someone go through each item and put them on hangars.
On April 8, various volunteers from BOMAOC’s Philanthropy committee gathered at Working Wardrobes. Donning masks, blue gloves, and a can-do attitude, they spent an entire afternoon hanging up clothes piece by piece. Countless shirts, blazers, dresses, shoes, and more were sorted, inspected, and hung up as planes landed at a nearby airport, occasionally drowning conversation. Indoors, an impressive amount of sorted business clothes stretched to the back of the building, along with several smartly dressed mannequins greeting front door visitors.
BOMAOC’s Working Wardrobes drives occur periodically and always sees tremendous turnout. Many thanks to everyone who donated and special thanks to the Philanthropy Committee for your hard work and dedication!

WELCOME BACK, YOUNG LEADERS!
On April 29 BOMA OC’s Young Leaders got to enjoy their first in-person event since the start of the pandemic.
The theme “Welcome Back, Friends!” accurately conveyed the sentiments of the Young Leaders, with members echoing the refrain "It's so great to see you again!" throughout the evening.
Attendees were all smiles as they got to enjoy the outdoor company and conversation with some bingo, cornhole, putting competitions, and beer from Hangar 24.
The high-energy mixing and mingling continued for several hours, even after the sunset. It was truly good to be back!

COVID-19: AGES 16+ NOW VACCINE ELIGIBLE + NEW CDC GUIDELINES
Orange County is in the Orange Tier, with over 2 million residents receiving at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. New daily case rates are currently 2.3 per 100,000, just above the 2.0 needed to move to the Yellow Tier.
Also, the CDC has updated mask guidelines for fully vaccinated Americans. While outdoors, they do not need to mask-up unless in a very big crowd of strangers. This comes on the heels of more than half of US adults receiving at least one dose of the vaccine, and over a third fully vaccinated.
Dr. Mike Sagg, an infectious disease expert at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, welcomed the change.
"It's the return to freedom," Saag said. "It's the return of us being able to do normal activities again. We're not there yet, but we're on the exit ramp. And it's a beautiful thing."
