APPLY FOR THE ARTIST RECOVERY GRANT
Individual Grants for Baltimore City Artists
|
|
Applications are still open for the Baltimore City Artist Recovery Grant Award (ARG), administered by BOPA on behalf of the city, to support individual artists impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency. The ARG is open to individual artists and performers of every discipline who are at least 18 years old and live in the City of Baltimore. Applications will close on Friday, March 18, 2022. ARG VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
Understanding Your Grant Agreement

For artists who are applying for the ARG, and to promote understanding on general elements of a contract, BOPA has engaged Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (MDVLA) to lead a virtual legal workshop training on contract law basics. The workshop, held on Saturday, March 5, from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., is free to attend. Register to get the link below.

BOPA'S COMMUNITY ARTS GRANT
Up to $17,000 of Support for Public Art Projects
|
|
The Community Arts Grant produced by BOPA supports community-artist collaborative design & implementation of new, exterior wall mural projects sited in underserved communities of Baltimore City. The collaborative projects must be free and open to the public and exist in outdoor, publicly-accessible space. Grant applicants may request up to $17,000 in mural project funding support. 2022 SEASON AUDITIONS
Join Full Circle Dance Company
|
|
Full Circle will hold open auditions on Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. for dancers 18+ to join the company for the 2022 season. Dancers must be available Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7:30–9:30 p.m. in addition to various dates throughout the year for performances. Dancers must be fully vaccinated and wear a high quality mask. Full Circle is looking for strong technical dancers who work easily in diverse collaborations. Charm City Craft Mafia's Pile of Craft will be held in person on May 1, from 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at the Peabody Heights Brewery, 401 E. 30th Street, Baltimore, MD 21218. This show will have indoor and outdoor vendors. If you would like to participate as a vendor at this popular artisan market, fill out the application below. OPEN CALL FOR EMERGING NATIVE ARTISTS

The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation (NACF) is now accepting applications for the LIFT–Early Career Support for Native Artists program, a one-year award and early career support program for emerging Native artists to develop and realize new projects in a variety of disciplines. Eligible applicants must be individual Native artists and must be an enrolled member or citizen of a federally-recognized or state-recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native corporation, or of Native Hawaiian ancestry. LIFT is a monetary award of $10,000 for a proposed project with a required minimum of $3,000 earmarked for the artist’s benefit and wellbeing. TEEN PORTRAIT COMPETITION
Opportunity for Young Artists at the National Gallery
|
|
The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery has opened the call for entries for its 2022 Teen Portrait Competition. Artists between the ages of 13 and 17 may submit a photographic portrait to the juried competition via email. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, March 29, 2022. The two grand-prize portraits will be printed and displayed at the National Portrait Gallery in 2022. For complete competition details and how to submit, click below.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR K–12 STUDENTS

The American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) announces their Compassion in Action Scholarship Program, inspired by the current mega-exhibition, Healing and the Art of Compassion (and the lack thereof!). AVAM’s Compassion in Action Scholarship application is open to all K–12 students in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Howard County. Students may also be nominated by a teacher or other community member. Fifty $500 scholarships will be awarded. All submissions must be sent in by Friday, April 1, 2022 and winners will be announced later in the spring. For details, click below.

SUMMER PROGRAM FOR YOUTH
Part-Time Summer Jobs With YouthWorks
|
|
YouthWorks 2022 will operate a five-week summer program for youth from July 5–August 5, five hours per day, five days per week, totaling 25 hours per week. YouthWorkers will be introduced to workplace experiences, financial literacy development, career exploration opportunities, and skills training. The Creative Alliance Resident Artist Program accommodates eight resident artists, one in each of the studios on the second floor of The Patterson, for terms of one to three years. Artists are encouraged (but not required) to use the studios as their primary residence. Applications close on Monday, April 4, 2022.
