JANET & WALTER SONDHEIM PRIZE
Apply Now for This Prestigious Annual Award
BOPA is proud to announce that submissions are now being accepted for the 17th edition of the Janet & Walter Sondheim Art Prize. The prize will award $30,000 to a visual artist or visual artist collaborators living and working in the Baltimore region. Approximately three finalists will be selected for the final review for the prizes and their work will be exhibited in the Walters Art Museum in June and July 2022. All Sondheim Art Prize Finalists will receive a Finalist Award of $2,500 each, and 10 semifinalists will receive a $500 award and an exhibition during Artscape 2022. Participate in the Adjudication Process
BOPA is in the process of gathering judges for this coming judging cycle of the Maryland Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards presented by Arcadia. We are looking for talented professionals in the field of literary and visual arts to participate as Regional Jurors. All jurors will receive a $100 stipend at the end of adjudication in appreciation of their participation. Potential jurors must be available January 8–9, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. for visual art adjudication, and the week of January 8–16, 2022 for the writing adjudication. (This is done at your own pace but must be completed midnight on January 16.) If you want to be a juror, click the button and fill out the interest form.

For the 2022 Baltimore Screenwriters Competition
The Baltimore Film Office is now accepting entries for the 17th annual Baltimore Screenwriters Competition, a project of the Baltimore Film Office in conjunction with film programs at Johns Hopkins University and Morgan State University. The top entries in each category will win cash prizes and are scheduled to be announced during the 2022 Maryland Film Festival in April 2022. Supporting Artists Impacted by the Pandemic
As a recipient of federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Baltimore City approved a grant of $500,000 to fund the Baltimore City Artist Recovery Grant, or ARG. The ARG will provide direct economic relief by providing grants to individual professional artists whose lives and livelihoods were demonstrably impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications will open in January. GRANT OPPORTUNITY FOR ORGANIZATIONS Funding From The Les Paul Foundation
The Les Paul Foundation inspires innovative and creative thinking by sharing the legacy of Les Paul through support of music education, recording, innovation and medical research related to hearing. Funding consideration is given to programs and projects that encourage innovation in music production and/or performance and to innovative STEM or STEAM programs for students and others in challenging situations. All applicants must describe how Les Paul’s story will be shared. Applications for the next grant cycle close on Saturday, January 15, 2022. For more information, click below.

Exhibit Your Work at the Arts & Drafts Festival
The 2022 Arts & Drafts Festival, presented by the Baltimore County Arts Guild, will be held June 25–26, 2022 at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Halethorpe. This two-day outdoor festival will welcome over 5,000 visitors and feature up to 60 visual artist exhibitors from across the Baltimore-Washington region, live music, interactive programs, and family-friendly activities. The Baltimore County Arts Guild is currently accepting applications from artists wishing to exhibit their work at the Festival. The Arts & Drafts Festival is open to all artists, including new and emerging artists. Applications are due January 21, 2022. To apply, click on the button below.
NEA BIG READ
Encourage Reading Through the Arts
The National Endowment for the Arts Big Read supports organizations across the country in developing community-wide reading programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and more. Activities focus on one book from the NEA Big Read library. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, January 26, 2022. For details, click below.

Monthly Exhibitions at the SNF Parkway
SNF Parkway is launching “On the Other Side," a new window exhibition space in January 2022. They are currently looking for dynamic digital media artists to submit their works for consideration for February and March. February's theme is "Afro Futures" and the deadline to submit is January 1, 2022. March's theme is "Femme the Future" and the deadline is February 1, 2022. SIX-WEEK RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITY

The MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire invites applications from emerging and established artists for its fall fellowship program in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theater, and visual arts. The fellowship includes exclusive use of a studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for up to six weeks. Residencies are available from September 1, 2022, through February 28, 2023. There are no residency fees, and travel grants and need-based stipends are available (though artists are generally responsible for the cost of travel to and from the colony).
