President's Message

Can you believe 2019 is coming to an end!  I  would like to thank everyone for supporting the BPCIA events this year.  Interaction through the Association's events creates a foundation for an overall business achievement.  Your attendance and support deserves our thanks.

Our membership is growing, partly because of our current members, who share information with non-members resulting in growth in our Association.  Plus, our membership committee is working on a membership drive.  They are contacting any Bedford Park non-member business, and explaining our mission, and the benefits of becoming a member.  If there is anyone you feel may be interested in joining the BPCIA, please send us their contact information and we will be sure to reach out to them.  Information can be obtained through Donna at 708-496-0336 or donna@bpcia.org.

We recently had a Quarterly Luncheon on the new Marijuana law starting on January 1, 2020.  Below you will find a link to that presentation.

Have a wonderful holiday season,

First Responders Appreciation Day
Thank You Bedford Park Police & Fire

One of our members and property owner, Sam Ekstein, had a great idea!  He wanted to show support and honor the Bedford Park First Responders.  He came up with an idea to host an Appreciation Day at Magoo's Bar, which he owns.

After some brainstorming meetings and a lot of heart and soul put in on his part, he hosted  a "Bedford Park First Responder Appreciation Day" on October 29th.  The idea was to say thank you for your service before you may ever need their help.

Below is a picture of Tim Horn (3rd from the left) who is alive today because of the Bedford Park Fire Department, his wife and co-workers.  Tim says, "The BP First Responders were unbelievable.  The firefighters and paramedics on the call 6 months ago on April 30, 2019 were true lifesavers.  As was my wife Sandy doing CPR on me with others at our company until they arrived, within 7 minutes!  They are true heroes.  God bless them and the Village of Bedford Park.  The First Responders do not get enough credit for all that they do".

Pictured  from left to right:  FF/PM Dan Stanford, FF/PM Bob Gasparas, Tim Horn, Sandy Horn, Capt. Kurt Raber, FM Mark Murray.  Present at the call, but not pictured are: Lt. Jim Homa, Eng. Joe Wagner, FF/PM Harry Parks and FF Jim Kirkolis.

Sam Ekstein talks about the event:  "WOW... As some of you may be aware we are involved in charity work and you never know when you plan any event if it will meet your hopes and expectations

I am delighted that last night exceeded our expectations it was so well attended, it was absolutely to my delight that people stayed, the laughter, good cheer and unending smiles did not stop.  An additional unexpected benefit were several people commenting that while everyone knows everyone, last night so many had the opportunity to be together at one time in one place

While I received many thanks it would not have happened without the assistance and support of so many of you, last night was truly a collaborative effort.

Accordingly I appreciate the thanks however please keep in mind it was everyone's enthusiastic participation that made last night so wonderful."

All my best
Be safe

Sam
